Education and Experience:
I graduated and received my Master's degree from the Jungian, Depth-oriented college, Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2015. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy from University of Colorado, Boulder.
Currently, I work in private practice providing telehealth counsleing. I have over seven years' experience working in a variety of settings, including inpatient, in-home therapy, hospitals, prisons, and telephonic crisis counseling Most recently, I worked as an outpatient clinician at San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group and treated children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in individual, as well as group therapy. I am most passionate in working with young adults and older adults experiencing phase of life problems or grief.
Emotional pain, which is often suppressed in our modern culture, provides us with information that something is out of balance within ourselves, our environment, or in our lives. Jungian Psychology aims to explore and heal emotional pain by uncovering the root problems influencing the individual. Sometimes, depression, anxiety, or other symptoms arise as a result of childhood trauma, dysfunctional relationships, or denying one's true feelings or authentic self. This approach aims to gain a clear understanding of what is creating one's symptoms instead of merely treating the surface-level symptoms. Only from a clear understanding of the problem, can one begin to heal.
Background & Personal Journey:
After overcoming the life-threatening Necrotizing Fasciitis in 2008, I embarked on my own journey of healing and self-understanding through exploring various modalities and techniques and wish to share what I have learned with others and assist in their healing. Prior to contracting this illness, I received many dreams and messages that something was out of balance within my life and body and eventually foreshadowed my illness. I spent about a month suspended in a medically-induced coma during which time I had many dreams that mirrored what was happening to me on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. I remember one particular dream in which I chose to re-enter the world and live out the rest of my life.
Upon awakening from the coma, I had many challenges to overcome as I could not breath on my own, speak, eat, or walk. However, despite these challenges, I awoke with a renewed sense of the preciousness of life and an incredibly strong will to live. In addition, from this point forward, I developed a greater sense of intuition and experienced an increasing frequency of lucid and precognitive dreams. From these experiences that apparently violate traditional conceptions of time as linear, I began documenting my own experiences and researching topics related to near death experiences, consciousness, non-ordinary reality, synchronicity, dreaming, and shamanism.
I am currently co-directing a film examining our relationship to time, synchronicity, dreams, and the path to healing. To contribute visit: www.facebook.com/CirclingHawkProductions
"The dream is a little hidden door in the innermost and most secret recesses of the soul, opening into that cosmic night which was psyche long before there was any ego-consciousness, and which will remain psyche no matter how far our ego-consciousness extends.”
